Box Score LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The William Woods University men's tennis team defeated No. 9 Campbellsville (Ky.), 5-4, on Saturday afternoon. The win for the Owls is its fifth win of the season. The loss for Campbellsville is its first of the season.
The No. 9 Campbellsville Tigers came out swinging as they took the first point of the match by winning No. 1 singles over
Christian Barbieri and
Marcos Vinicius Prates Constantino. After dropping the first match, William Woods came back and won the next two doubles matches taking a 2-1. Full double results located here.

Entering singles, the Owls led 2-1, however, the lead was tied at 2-2 after
Christopher Vleeming Ortiz dropped singles No 1. Campbellsville came and took the lead 3-2 after winning in No. 6 singles.
WWU came back and tied the match at 3-3 after
Oscar Barreiro won in no. 4 singles, 6-1, 7-6. The lead would go back to the Tigers after Adrian Sabrojo defeated
Juan Avellaneda in No. 5 singles.
William Woods needed to win the final two matches to clinch the match. First
Christian Barbieri won in no. 2 singles. He won by the score of 6-2, 7-5. With the match going down to the final match,
Johnnie Carmichael fought back to get the Owls the win. In the third set for Carmichael, he found himself down 5-3 in the set and saved eight match points before running the win.
