Women's Basketball Heads to Freed-Hardeman for AMC Semifinals

FULTON, Mo. - The William Woods University Women's Basketball team travels to Henderson, Tennessee to play No. 1 Freed-Hardeman for the AMC Semifinals on Friday, March 3rd at 7 p.m.

Previous Meetings
- Earlier this season, the Owls traveled to Freed-Hardeman in a regular season AMC season match falling short, 62-50. April Gebke led the Owls in points scoring 12 points against the Lions, teammate Kelsey Scherder right behind scoring 10 points
- When the Owls hosted Freed, the Owls suffered a disappointing blow only losing by four points, 55-59

About the Owls
- The Owls enter the semi-finals with an overall record of 20-10
- WWU advanced to the AMC Semifinals after defeating No. 24 Lindenwood-Belleville, 70-62, in the AMC Quarterfinals on Tuesday
- For the ninth straight season, the William Woods University women's basketball team has won 20 games in a season. This year the 20th win came in the AMC Quarterfinals as the Owls defeated No. 24 Lindenwood -Belleville, 70-62
- Jasmine Brown leads the Owls in scoring on the season. Brown is averaging 14.4 points per game. She scored a season-high 31 points on November 19th, 2016 against Central Baptist
- Freshman, Peyton Greenlee is the only other Owl averaging double-figures on the season. She is averaging 10.5 points per game on the season, including a career-high 23 points on December 31st against Park
- The Owls are shooting 43.3 from the floor on the season, 15th best in the NAIA, and Brown leads the Owls as she is shooting 53.6 percent on the season. Brown's shooting percentage of 53.6 percent is the 13th best in the nation
- The Owls are shooting 33.6 percent from behind the arc this season, which ranks 17th best in the NAIA

About the Lady Lions
- The Lady Lions enter the contest with a perfect record of 31-0 and an AMC record of 24-0
- Freed-Hardeman is 15-0 on its home court on the season. Their last home loss came on December 31st of 2015 when Lyon defeated the Lady Lions in overtime
- Taleeah Cross leads the Lady Lions in points per game averaging 16.9 points and is shooting at a 43 percent from the floor. Cross also leads in assists with 144 on the season and 67 steals
- Freed-Hardeman is outscoring opponents by 26.3 points per game, which is the best mark in the NAIA
- The Lady Lions rank fourth in the nation as the only allow opponents to make 24.3 percent of three-point shots
- Tiffany Pate leads the Lady Lions in rebounding and block shots. On the season, Pate is averaging 11.0 rebounds per game and 2.81 blocks per game

- The winner of the Owls and Lions game will move on to the AMC Championship game and will play the winner of No. 2 Lyon College and No. 3 Columbia College on Monday, March 6 at 7 p.m.
