Softball Travels to Freed-Hardeman in AMC Opening Round

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University Softball travels to Henderson, Tennessee to play No. 22 Freed-Hardeman for AMC Opening Round of the conference tournament.
 
About the AMC Tournament
- The opening round of the AMC Tournament is a best of three-series. The winner of the series advances to the final site of the conference tournament.
- The winners of each series to advance to the Championship final site at Freed-Hardeman University on May 4-5.

About the Owls
- The Owls have an overall record of 27-20 with an AMC record of 13-11
- WWU ended its season with a split with Central Baptist College. WWU lost game one, 7-4, but rebounded taking game two, 6-2
- Offensively, the Owls hold the No. 1 ranking in triples with 27, with Hannah Campbell leading the Owls with nine, ranking her at second in the NAIA
- Campbell is also leading the Owls in hits with 64 on the season and has a .408 batting average
- Teammate Beth Begemann follows Campbell in triples with five, which is 11th in the NAIA
- In their last meeting, the Owls suffered a heartbreaking loss 4-3 in eight innings in game one and another defeat 5-0
- The Owls are hitting a .296 in the AMC gathering 28 doubles, 15 triples, 12 homeruns, 120 RBIs, and an OBP of .346 in the AMC

About the Lions
- The Lions are currently ranked No. 22 in the NAIA and have an overall record of 21-10 and have an AMC record of 19-5
- Freed-Hardeman enters postseason play as the three see and were swept by Columbia in its last contest on April 20th  
- Caitlyn Carter is leading the offense with a batting average of .456 with 47 hits including three triples, two homeruns, and nine RBIs
- Carter also leads the Lions in stolen bases collecting 10 in the season
- Kylyn Graham is leading in RBIs with 21 and has collected 26 hits, including six doubles, one triple and two homeruns
- Makenzie Prince leads the Lions pitching staff in ERA, 1.37, as well as strikeouts, 78, averaging 6.28 per start
- As a pitching staff, the Lions are holding teams to a .201 batting average with is the sixth best mark in the nation
- Freed-Hardeman has the eighth best fielding percentage team in the nation. The Lions have a fielding percentage of .968 on the season
