Box Score MOBILE, Ala. – Playing in their first ever national championship appearance, the William Woods University Men's Tennis game earned a first-round victory over Our Lady of the Lake (Texas). The Owls defeated the Saints, 8-1.
 
With the win the Owls advance to the second round, May 17, when they face the eighth seed Arizona Christian University. The match is scheduled to start at 9 a.m.
 
The Owls jumped out to a quick lead in doubles action as they won No. 3 doubles. The team of Christian Barbieri and Christopher Vleeming Ortiz won 8-1. They went up 2-0 when Oscar Barreiro and Johnnie Carmichael won 8-4 in No. 2 doubles. WWU battled back and took the third point in doubles when David Barbieri and Stefan Simic won 9-8 (7-3) in No. 1 singles. Full double results listed below:

WWU's David Barbieri clinched the win for the Owls in No. 6 singles with a 6-2, 6-0 victory.
