Box Score FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University men's tennis team dropped its first match of the season, 5-4, to Lindenwood University on Saturday afternoon at the Suzanne Neal Memorial Tennis Complex on the campus of William Woods University.
 
The Owls jumped out to an early lead in doubles action. WWU took the first doubles match as Christian Barbieri and Jesus Amezcua won 8-5. After dropping doubles three, the Owls claimed the first doubles taking a 2-1 lead in the match. Full doubles results can be seen below:

3. Butaeye,Theo/Barraud,Antoine (LWU) def. Oscar Donker/Nathan Cooke (WWU) 8-6
 
In singles action William Woods grew its lead to 4-1 after Vleeming Ortiz won No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-3. After Vleeming Ortiz win, Jesus Amezcua won 6-4, 7-6 (5) in No. 4 singles. WWU needed only one more point to win the match against the NCAA Division II team.
 
However, the Owls did not get the last point it needed. Lindenwood mounted a huge comeback taking No. 1 singles, No. 3 singles, No. 6 singles and No. 5 singles, in that order coming back to win the match over the Owls. Full single results can be seen below:

WWU returns to action this weekend, September 22-24 when they travel to Bourbonnais, Illinois to participate in the ITA Central Region Championships.
