Strength Coach Bob Jones Adds WWU Hall of Fame Inductee To His Resume

FULTON, Mo. – This Saturday, January 20th, at 10:30 a.m. the 2018 William Woods University Hall of Fame Class which includes Bob Jones (Coach/Contributor), L.J. Watson (Baseball) and Jada Bennington (Women's Golf), will be formally be inducted.

The Hall of Fame Ceremony on January 20th will be held in Dulany Auditorium starting at 10:30 a.m. Doors open at 10 a.m. and its open to the public. The Hall of fame Ceremony is also a LEAD event. 
 
This year's inductees, will join an already prestigious Hall of Fame Class, which includes Helen Stephens, former athletic director Roger Ternes, Lana Unnewehr-Brooks (women's basketball), the 2002 men's volleyball team, Erin Jewell (women's soccer), Ashley Windmiller (softball), Patty Wilderman (women's basketball), Ashley Morgan (women's soccer), Saysha Sappenfield (Nevins) (softball), Tracy Gastineau (coach/contributor), Colleen Dailey (women's soccer/softball), Sue and Dana Anderson (contributor), Larry York (administrator), Michelle Krassinger (Softball), Nan Downey (Softball), Rachel Baker (Women's Basketball) and Barry Doty (Golf Coach).

The incoming candidates were selected from a pool of nominees submitted by the Hall of Fame Nomination Committee, including suggestions from members of the public and current WWU Hall of Fame Inductees, for their outstanding accomplishments, exemplary service or recognition and distinction to William Woods.
 
Coach Bob Jones was hired as the school's first strength and conditioning coach in July of 2001. He has worked diligently in helping a diverse group of student-athletes and their respective teams fulfill their athletic potential.
 
"I was shocked when I received the call from former Athletic Director Larry York," stated Bob Jones. "It is such an honor, and an accomplishment to be named to the WWU Athletic Hall of Fame. I hope to see all the athletes come back as I wouldn't be receiving this honor without them."
 
Coach Jones works with student-athletes in each of the Owls 16 athletic programs. He designs and implements preseason, in-season, postseason and sport-specific and individual-specific training programs for WWU's student-athletes.
 
Prior to coming to WWU, Coach Jones served as the assistant strength coach at the University of Missouri. While at Missouri, he worked with swimming and diving, wrestling, tennis, soccer, volleyball, softball, football and basketball.
 
As a strength and conditioning coach, most of Coach Jones work is done behind the scenes and rarely receives the recognition he deserves. Coach Jones has played an integral role in the success of the Owls athletic programs.
 
During his time at WWU, the department has achieved numerous conference championships, national championship appearances, an NAIA National Invitational Team Championship, and an NAIA Individual National Champion. The foundation of those accomplishments started in the weight room under his leadership.
 
In January of 2016, Coach Jones was named strength and conditioning association registered strength and conditioning coach emeritus.
 
Coach Jones and his wife Eva reside in Millersburg, Missouri and are the proud parents of six children and three grandchildren.
