FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's basketball team opens their 2018-2019 season Wednesday night as they face Lincoln College (Ill.). Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Anderson Arena.

About Lincoln
After spending their entire time playing as NJCAA program, the Lynx have switched over to a varsity program and have joined NAIA athletics. They played their first game of the season on Saturday, October 27
th against Trinity Christian where they were defeated 93-67. Nautica Preston led the Lynx in scoring with 23pts. Kileia Monteria followed with 15pts and 21rebs.

This will be the first time WWU will face the Lynx.

William Woods
Last season the Owls finished 19-13 overall and 15-9 in the American Midwest Conference. They advanced to the second round of the AMC Tournament where they were defeated 72-61 to No. 6 Columbia. Before falling to the Cougars, WWU defeated No. 19 Lindenwood University – Belleveille 86-80 in double overtime.

Season Openers
William Woods has had a 4-1 record for season openers over the last five seasons. Their last win in a regular season opener came on October 31, 2016 when they defeated No. 10 Tabor College 69-64. Kelsey Scherder led the Owls with 17pts.
Jasmine Brown finished with 16pts and
Peyton Greenlee followed with 13pts of her own.

Playing at Anderson Arena
Since the 2013-14 season, William Woods has had success in Anderson Arena. During their 2016-17 season, the Owls finished 11-6 at home making it their best home record in the last four years. WWU will appear at home 14-timws this season and have a chance to continue home winning percentage.

Owls Picked Fifth in Preseason Poll
On October 22
nd the women's soccer team was picked to finish fifth in the American Midwest Conference Preseason Coach's Poll.

Gerald and Greenlee Return for WWU
Kaycee Geral and
Peyton Greenlee both return this season for William Woods. Gerald, a junior., averaged 11.8pts and 3.4ast last season for the Owls. She was also named 2017 AMC Second Team All-AMC.

Greenlee, also a junior, averaged 12.3pts and 4.8rebs per game last season for WWU. Peyton was named 2017 Honorable Mention All-AMC.
