FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's basketball team captured their first win of the season Wednesday night as they defeated Lincoln College (Ill.) 76-52. WWU shot 43.9% from the field and 75% from the free-throw line.

Peyton Greenlee led the Owls with 25pts.
Kaycee Gerald finished with 14pts, 7ast and 8rebs.
Sommer Burgard followed with 10pts of her own.

The Owls return to action Saturday, November 3
rd as they take on Cardinal Stritch University in the Columbia College Cougars vs. Caner Classic. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Columbia College.

Game Flow
William Woods got off to a quick start. A two-point basket from Burgard put the Owls ahead 4-0. Lincoln was finally able to stop WWU's run with a two-pointer coming from Kaleia Monterio, but that would not be enough to slow the Owls down as Greenlee knocked down a three-pointer and gave the WWU a 9-2 lead.

After a slow start, Emoni Smith knocked down two free-throws for the Lynx and put them within four of WWU. Smith led Lincoln in scoring with 17pts on the night.

In the final minute of the first quarter,
Katie French scored a two-point shot a gave William Woods a 18-10 advantage going into the second half.

Down by eight, Smith hit a big three-point shot and put the Lynx within five. The Owls came right back with a three of their own coming from Greenlee and put WWU ahead 21-13.

Midway through the second, Nautica Preston hit a shot from downtown and put the Lynx within three. William Woods would stretch their lead back out to five with a fast-break laying coming from Gerald.

With 4-minutes remaining in the half, Greenlee knocked down another shot from three-point ranged and pushed the Owls lead to 28-20.

Lincoln scored a few more times, but walked into halftime down 36-25.

William Woods returned from halftime in full attack mode getting out to a 48-33 lead. At the 3-minute mark, WWU found themselves ahead 54-33 when Gerald connected for another fast-break lay-in.

In the final minute of the third quarter, Whitney Gines hit one of two free-throws and put the Lynx behind 58-38 going into the fourth quarter.

The Owls entered the fourth quarter carrying the same energy they had the entire game. At the 8:15 mark, Greenlee knocked down another three-point shot and pushed the WWU lead to 63-40.

With William Woods ahead 74-49, Samantha Realford connected on a two-point attempt a put them behind 74-51.

Gerald would score the final point for the Owls in regulation and WWU would go on to defeat Lincoln 76-52.
