Women’s Basketball Plays Host to Missouri Baptist Saturday

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's basketball team plays host to Missouri Baptist University on Saturday, December 1, for the final home game of the semester. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.

About Missouri Baptist 
MBU is coming off a close win over Harris-Stowe State University at home. The Spartans used their powerful first quarter to hold off HSSU, 63-58. Alissa Rowden led the team with 21 points.

MBU sits at 3-5 on the season with a 2-2 conference mark.

Alissa Rowden is leading the Spartans with 113 points and is averaging 14.1 points per game. She is shooting 88.9 percent from the foul line (32-of-36), placing her 18th in the nation. The wealth is spread around on the boards as nine players have 20+ rebounds. Izzy Farrell is leading the way with 32 while also leading the team in assists (24). Jordan Wyatt and Farrell are active on defense for the Spartans as they hold 16 and 15 steals, respectively.

The Owls are coming off an overtime upset over No. 4 Columbia College Thursday evening. The win moved the Owls to 3-0 in conference play and 6-2 on the season while snapping Columbia's perfect season.

Kaycee Gerald finished with a double-double performance in the win, posting 22 points and 10 rebounds. She went 5-for-6 from the field with three three-pointers. She finished 9-for-11 from the foul line while going 4-for-4 at the end of the game to help seal the win. Peyton Greenlee added 18 points to the win.

Peyton Greenlee is leading the team in points with 124, averaging 15.5 points per game. She ranks 35th nationally for her free throw percentage (0.838), 40th for points per game and 42nd for total scoring.

Kaycee Gerald leads the Owls with 55 rebounds and is following closely behind Greenlee with 113 points. She is shooting 64.8 percent from the field. Gerald also has three top-50 national rankings. She ranks 34th in total steals (20), 40th in steals per game (2.5) and 49th in defensive rebounds per game (5).

As a team, the Owls are shooting .422 from the field. They have 12 top 50 national rankings including an 11th place ranking for opponent's field goal percentage.

The Owls grabbed two wins over Missouri Baptist in the 2017-18 season. The team grabbed a 19-point victory in the second game of the season over the Spartans after a dominate third quarter.
 
What's Next
The Owls take a 12 day hiatus from play. They return to action on Thursday, Dec. 13, at No. 5 Freed-Hardeman University.
