Owls Suffer First Conference Loss to No. 2 Freed-Hardeman

HENDERSON, Tenn. – The William Woods University women's basketball team's undefeated conference streak came to an end on Thursday evening with a loss to No. 2 Freed-Hardeman University. The Owls record just their third loss on the season, their first in over a month. They now sit with a 7-3 overall mark, 4-1 in conference play. FHU remains unbeaten with an 11-0 record, 5-0 in conference.

Jazlyn Drake scored a team-high nine points.

The Owls play their final conference game of 2018 at Williams Baptist University on Saturday, Dec. 15.
 
Game Flow
WWU had trouble getting on the board to start the game while FHU a bucket and two threes to take an 8-0 lead.

Kaycee Gerald broke the Owl's silence when she scored two. Bailey Rollins scored again on the Owl's next possession, bringing the game within six, 10-4.  

The Owls ended the quarter with a 7-0 run, holding FHU scoreless in the remaining three minutes. Peyton Greenlee scored five of the seven while Sommer Burgard began the run with two good free throws.

The Owl's late quarter run continued to fuel the team as they knotted the game up just 2:31 into the second quarter, 19-19.

FHU proved why they are the number two team in the nation as they put together an 18-3 run to close out the half, 37-22.

FHU extended their lead to 24 at the end of three and went on to win the game, 78-47.
