Softball Hosts Williams Baptist and Freed-Hardeman, Thursday and Friday

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University softball team hosts Williams Baptist College in American Midwest Conference action on Thursday, March 15th at 2 and 4 p.m.
 
About the Owls
- WWU enters the contest with a 7-9 overall record and are 2-0 in the AMC
- William Woods is coming off a doubleheader against Stephens College, who they played Wednesday
-The Owls are 45th in the NAIA in triples collecting five in the season
- Emma Walker leads the team with two triples which is 34th best in the NAIA
- Emily Robinett leads the Owls in batting average with 20 hits and has a batting average of .400. She also has 12 runs, two doubles, and three walks
- Ali Massey leads the offense in RBIs with 11 in the season
- Follow Massey in the RBI category is Devyn Burton who has seven
-The Owls have collected 61 runs, 125 hits, 11 doubles, five triples, and 58 RBIs
- The pitching staff has an ERA of 4.60. Allison Waskow leads the staff with a 3.71 ERA
- Entering Wednesday's doubleheader against Stephens, the Owls have been outscored 87-61

About the Eagles
- The Eagles are 4-8 overall and are currently 0-2 in the AMC
- WBC is ranked seventh in the nation in stolen bases per game averaging 2.91 steals
- Madelyn Hawley is leading the Eagles with 14 stolen bases and is 15th best in the nation
- Hawley also leads in triples with two, and 43rd in the nation in hits per game averaging 1.58 hits
- The Eagles are 23rd in the NAIA in stolen bases collecting 35 in the season
- The Eagles have three players hitting above .400. Madelyn Hawley leads the offense with a .442 batting average. Laura Helmich follows with a .409 batting average and Leslie Garza has a .400 batting average.
-Laura Helmich leads the Eagles pitching staff with an ERA of 2.82 and has collected 33 strikeouts and is averaging 5.17 strikeouts per appearance
- As a team, the Eagles have an ERA of 3.83 and are allowing opponents to hit .340
 
About the Lions
- Freed-Hardeman enters the weekend with a record of 9-8 on the season and 3-1 in AMC action
- The Lions have hit six triples on the season, which is 26th best in the NAIA
- Makenzie Prince is holding opponents to hit .198 on the season, which is 33rd best in the nation
- Caitlyn Carter leads the team with a .397 batting average. She is 23-for-58 on the season
- The Lions are hitting .259 as a team this season with 21 extra base hits
- Prince leads the pitching staff as she has pitched 54.2 innings on the season. She has an ERA of 1.66 with 39 strikeouts
- Annalise Jarnagin leads Freed-Hardeman in RBIs as she has driven in 17 on the season. She also has four of the Lions five home runs on the season
- The Lions have two players batting over .300 on the season. Carter leads the team with an average of .397 and Makenzie Prince is hitting .380  

What's Next
The Owls will host the Lions of Freed-Hardeman on Friday, March 15 for a doubleheader set to start at 12 p.m. Following these weekends action, the Owls travel to Hannibal-LaGrange on March 20th for AMC action.
