Box Score HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The William Woods University men's tennis team, presented by Fulton Medical Center, closed out its 2018 spring break trip with a 7-2 victory over Wilkes University on Thursday afternoon.

WWU jumped out to a 1-0 lead as they took No. 2 doubles to open the match.
Juan Esteban Duran and
Benjamin Tzchentke won 8-4. Wilkes tied the game at 1-1 after taking No. 3 doubles, 8-3. WWU took the lead at 2-1 after
Jesus Amezcua and
Christian Barbieri took No. 1 doubles, 9-8.
William Woods continued to pull ahead of Wilkes as WWU came and took No. 3 singles. Duran won the match 6-3, 6-2 over Jonathan White.
Oscar Donker followed by winning 6-4, 6-1, over Andrw Neidig in No. 4 singles.
Leading 4-1,
Jesus Amezcua clinched the match for the Owls with a win in No. 1 singles. Amezcua dropped the first set but won the next two. Amezcua came away with a 4-6, 6-3, 10-8.
Nathan Cooke won No. 2 singles, 6-4, 7-5, over Artyom Nabokin.
In the final two matches, Wilkes Chris Maderitz defeated
Jack Campbell 8-4. Leading 6-2,
Elias Fernandez came way with an 8-5 victory over Ryan Simon in No. 6 doubles.
The Owls return to action on Wednesday, March 14th when they travel to Bolivar, Missouri to face NCAA Division II Southwest Baptist University. Match starts at 2 p.m.
