Softball Opens AMC Tournament Play Tuesday

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University softball team opens the American Midwest Conference Softball Tournament on Tuesday, May 1st at 12 p.m. against Central Baptist College in Columbia, Missouri at the Antimi Softball Complex.
 
AMC Softball Tournament
-This season the AMC will have all eight teams at one site for the entire AMC Softball Tournament
- The eight teams are split into two pools with the winners of the pools playing a best of three series
- The winner of the conference tournament will earn an automatic berth to the NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round

About the Owls
-The Owls open play as the five seed in the AMC Softball tournament in Pool A
- WWU has a record of 24-20 on the season and finished the year 15-9 in the AMC
- William Woods is coming off a doubleheader split with Park University on April 26th in the Owls last regular season games
- The Owls rank tenth in the nation in triples. WWU has 19 triples on the season. Emma Walker leads the Owls with five triples, which is 26th best in the nation
- Emily Robinett leads the Owls with a batting average of .380 on the season. She is one of eight Owls who are hitting over .300 on the season
- Alli Massey has the second best average on the team hitting .370. Massey leads the Owls in RBIs with 34 on the season
- Following Massey driving in runs are Emma Walker and Robinett, who both have 21 on the season
- The Owls have hit 13 home runs on the season. Leading the team is Walker, who has hit six on the season. All of Walkers home runs have came after April 13th
- In the circle, Allison Waskow has the lowest ERA (3.21) and innings pitched (120.0). she leads the Owls with 12 wins on the season
- WWU's pitching staff holds a team ERA of 3.97 on the season and are holding opponents to hit .273 on the year
- The Owls have struck out 177 batters. Waskow leads the way with 63, Bre Logan follows with 60 and Madison Ausfahl has 54 strikeouts
- WWU has hit 66 doubles on the season, led by 11 by Alli Massey

Central Baptist

-The Mustangs come into the AMC tournament as the fourth seed
- Central Baptist College enters the AMC Tournament with a record of 32-17 on the season and 17-7 in the AMC
- The Owls and Mustangs split its doubleheader on April 13th
- The Mustangs lead the NAIA in home runs per game (1.18), runs scored (395) and runs batted in (358)
- CBC is third in the nation in hits with 522 on the season
- Allison Seats leads the Mustangs offense as she has an average of .449. She has a team high in home runs (14) and RBIs (53)
- Central Baptist has seven players with 30 or more RBIs on the season
- As a team, the Mustangs are hitting .363 with 107 doubles, 14 triples an 58 home runs
- Kymberlie House has the team low in ERA (2.56) and has the team high in wins (14). House has pitched 120.1 innings on the season

- Freed-Hardeman's pitching staff has struck out 279 batters on the season, which is 11th best in the nation
- Caitlyn Carter leas the Lady Lions in batting average on the season as she hit .472 (58-for123)
- As a team, Freed-Hardeman is hitting .305 on the season with four girls hitting over .300 on the season
- The Lady Lions hit 17 home runs on the season, led by nine by Annalise Jarnagin
- Jarnagin is hitting .350 on the season with nine home runs and a team high 43 RBIs
