Box Score 3 FORT WORTH, Texas –The William Woods University softball team began their season with three games at the NAIA Cowtown Classic in Fort Worth, Texas. After multiple schedule shifts due to the low temperatures, the Owls were faced with three games on day one of the tournament. The Owls went 2-1, giving Coach
Tracy Gastineau her 700
th career win with the Owls.
The Owls started the day with a 5-1 win over Oklahoma Wesleyan.
The Owls faced Doane in the second game of the day and were short-gamed, 8-0.
The Owls recorded four hits in the game including a double from
Alli Massey.
Alexis Hassler (0-1) was credited with the loss. She pitched the complete game and struck out two.
To end the day, the Owls scored four in the second inning to defeat Texas Wesleyan 4-0. Beginning with a Massey double to right field,
Devyn Burton advanced her to third with a double of her own. With two outs,
Bri Devellano was hit by a pitch to load up the bases.
Kaitlyn Jennings was walked, bringing in the game-winning run.
Ari Arnold then singled to right field, bringing home Burton. On the next at bat, a passed ball gave way for Devellano to score the third run.
Lindy Wilson singled up the middle, bringing home Jennings. A ground out to short stop ended the inning for the Owls, and they were unable to score again.
The Owls recorded six hits with Massey going 3-for-3 from the plate.
Brittany Roady (1-0) recorded the complete game win. She struck out one while allowing four hits.
All Saturday 8 a.m. games are canceled, leaving the Owls with just one game to play on Saturday. They face Bellevue at 12 p.m. on Field #3.
