Box Score FULTON, Mo. – The No. 5 William Woods men's tennis team came out on top against Emporia State Tuesday afternoon for their third straight victory, 7-1.

The Hornets took the first win in No. 3 doubles which would be the only loss for the Owls. Javier Callejo and Christopher Vleeming Ortiz secured the first win for the Owls in line two doubles, 8-6. At No. 1 doubles, Aaron Westerlund and Oscar Barreiro finished off the doubles challenge with an 8-5 victory. 
 
In singles action, the Owls were able to pull out five wins, as there was an unfinished match at No. 5 singles due to weather. To secure the first singles win for the Owls, Antoine Maraval at the No. 6 spot came away with a 6-2, 6-2 victory. Playing No. 2 singles, Christopher Vleeming Ortiz pulled out the next win for the Owls, 6-3, 6-1. Oscar Barrerio took the win in the No. 3 spot, 6-4, 6-4. Grabbing another win at line four singles was Aaron Westerlund, defeating his opponent 6-3, 6-2. In No.1 singles, Javier Callejo captured the Owls last victory 6-3, 5-7, 10-4. Sam Bird was down a break 5-4 at line five singles, but was unable to finish his match due to inclement weather.
 
The Owls will look to keep their win streak alive as they travel to Tennessee to face Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) and No. 7 Cumberland University (Tenn.) on March 15 and 16.
