Box Score 2 LINCOLN, Ill. – The William Woods University softball team swept Lincoln College (Ill.) Tuesday afternoon to give them their 12
thwin of the season. The Owls defeated LC 4-2 in game one before short-gaming the Lynx in game two, 12-1.
The Owls move to 12-17 on the season.
The Owls will return to conference play as they host St. Louis College of Pharmacy for Senior Day on Friday, April 5. The doubleheader begins at 2 p.m.
Game One
Lincoln got on the board first as they scored two runs in the second inning with four hits.
The Owls put up one in the top of the third.
Dacrie Depping led off the inning with a single and was brought home on
Emma Walker's RBI single.
The Owls added two more in the fourth to take a 3-2 lead.
Emily Robinett led off with a double and moved to third on
Chyann Hockett's single. Robinett scored on Depping's sacrifice bunt, and Hockett was brought home on Walker's second RBI single of the game.
The Owls added one more run in the top of the seventh with Depping's RBI triple to score
Regan Wilde.
Walker went 3-for-4 from the plate with three singles and two RBI. Robinett, Hockett and Depping each recorded two hits.
Brittany Roady (7-6) pitched the complete game win. She struck out nine and allowed just four hits, all from the second inning.
Game Two
The Owls struck first in game two, scoring three runs in the top of the first with three RBI singles.
Lincoln scored their one and only run of the game in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice fly.
Walker brought home
Anna Counts in the top of the second to give the Owls a 4-1 lead.
In the third, Massey hit a three RBI double to clear the bases.
In the fourth inning,
Ari Arnold hit a two RBI single with bases loaded. With two runners still on, Walker smashed a home run to give the Owls a 12-1 lead.
The Owls were unable to score again in the fifth, ending the game with a 12-1 win.
Counts went 4-for-4 from the plate with four runs scored. Walker went 3-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored, and Massey went 3-for-4 with four RBI.
Madison Ausfahl (5-9) pitched the complete game win. She struck out five and allowed just four hits and one run.
