Owls Move to 13th Following Round Three of NAIA National Championships

SILVIS, Ill. – The William Woods University men's golf team shot a 300 in the third round of the NAIA National Championships, dropping them two places to 13th. The Owls currently hold a 904 score through 54 holes. 
 
Dalton State moved up three spots after shooting an even par in round three to grab the lead by four strokes.

The Owls play the fourth and final round on Thursday morning. 

Logan Smith fell out of the lead after shooting six over par in round three. He currently sits in second with a two-under-par 211, four strokes out from first. After opening the day with a par, he shot a birdie to go one under. He followed with four pars but shot a bogey to go even par on hole 16. He closed out the back nine with two pars. On the front nine, he hit a rough patch. After shooting a par on hole one, he shot a bogey and two double bogeys to go up five strokes. Following a par on hole five, he shot another bogey to go up six strokes. He closed out the round with a par, a birdie and a bogey.
 
Jakub Dymecki shot one over par on the day to sit in a six-way tie for 13th. He opened the day with a birdie but followed with two bogeys to go up by one. He shot another birdie on hole 14 to go even again. He closed out the back half with three pars and a bogey to go up by one heading to the front nine. Four pars and a birdie started the front nine. He shot a bogey on hole six, but followed with a par and a birdie to even his score again. He finished the round with a birdie to finish the front nine with a 35.
 
Philipp Heller shot two over on the day to sit in a three-way for 73rd. He has consistently lowered his score, shaving 13 strokes off since his round one score. He shot a par to start the day but followed with a bogey to go up one stroke. After three straight pars, he shot a bogey to go up two strokes. He took just two strokes to get it in the hole on hole 16's par three, bringing him back to one up. He closed out the back nine with a par and a bogey, sending him to the front nine two over par. After a double bogey to start the second half of the round, he shot two birdies. After a bogey, he shot three straight pars. A birdie on hole eight brought him back within two strokes, and he closed out the round with a par. 
 
Maxime Faure shot seven over on the day to shave five strokes off his previous two day scores, putting him tied for 88thplace. He started the day with a par and followed with a birdie and a bogey to remain even. After two pars, he closed out the back nine with three bogeys and a birdie to shoot two over. He began the front nine with a double bogey and shot three straight bogeys to go up by seven strokes after hole five. He closed out the round with two pars, a birdie and a bogey. 
 
Arron Patel kicked off his second round of the Championships with a par. He followed four bogeys with two double bogeys to go up by eight. He closed out the back nine with a par and a bogey to go up by nine strokes. He shot five over on the front nine, closing out the round with his only birdie of the day.
