Smith Leads AMC Championship, Owls Sit Third

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The William Woods University men's golf sits in third place following day one of the American Midwest Conference Championship. The Owls played two rounds on day one at the Dalhousie Country Club in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

The Owls sat in fifth place out of seven teams following round one with a 309. After shaving nine strokes off in round two, the Owls moved up to third with a 609 score on the day, sitting just four strokes out from first place. 
 
Missouri Baptist currently leads the Championship with a 606. Columbia sits second with a 608, holding a one-stroke lead over the Owls. The teams have one more round to play, starting Tuesday morning.
 
Logan Smith leads the Championship with a 145, shooting one over par. He shot three birdies, 13 pars and two bogeys for one under par in round one, sitting in a three-way tie for first place. He went on to shoot just two over in round two with three birdies, 10 pars and five bogeys. The two golfers he was tied with for first following round one shot a 75 in round two, moving them into second place.
 
Jakub Dymecki sits in a three-way tie for seventh. He shot a 74 in round one and a 77 in round two for a 151. He shot an eagle on hole 15's par five in round one and a birdie on hole 10's par four to finish the back nine three under par. On the front nine, he shot a 41. He shot 13 pars and five bogeys in round two for a 77.
 
Philipp Heller moved up 14 spots following round one to sit in a tie for 10th place. He has a 153 with an 81 round one score and a 72 round two score. After shooting 10 pars, seven bogeys and one double bogey in round one, he shaved nine strokes off in round two. He picked up two birdies, 15 pars and just one double bogey in the second round for an even par.
 
Pheemawat Winomrat moved up six places to finish round two tied for 23rd. He shot an 83 in round one and a 77 in round two for a 160. He shot two birdies in the second round, helping shave off six strokes from the first round. Through the two rounds, he shot two birdies, 19 pars, 12 bogeys and three double bogeys. 
 
Maxime Faure sits tied for 29th with a 166. He shot an 85 in round one and an 81 in round two. He shot one birdie in round two, 19 pars, 12 bogeys and four double+ bogeys.
