FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's basketball team fell to University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy Thursday evening, 49-31. The Owls fall to 2-6 on the season while continuing to look for their first win in conference play.

The Owls continue their home stretch with a conference game versus Hannibal-LaGrange on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 1 p.m.

The Owls got off to a slow start, unable to score in the first five and a half minutes, but they brought the game within one with just under a minute to play, 7-6. A jumper by
Macie Edwards just before the buzzer sent the Owls into the second quarter trailing by one, 9-8.
An 11-3 run from UHSP put the Owls down by nine with three minutes left in the half, 20-11. A three from
Madison Adolphsen cut the game to six, but UHSP pushed their lead to 11 by the end of half, 27-16.
The Owls scored six of their eight points of the third quarter in the final three minutes. The 6-0 run to end the quarter cut the Owls' deficit to 11 after UHSP held a 17-point lead.
A put-back from
Mariah Prince kept the Owls within 12 with four minutes remaining in the game, but UHSP held the Owls scoreless in the remaining time with scoring six to end the game with a 49-31 final score.
