Owls End Season in AMC Championship Quarterfinals

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The sixth-seed William Woods University women's basketball team had their season come to an end in the quarterfinals of the American Midwest Conference Championship this Wednesday evening. The team fell to Missouri Baptist, 58-45. The Owls concluded their season with a 10-19 record.

13 – Natalie Thomas scored 13 points going 6-for-4 from the field.
8 – Taneigh Boyd recorded eight points (3-4 FG, 1-2 FT).
7 – Sydney Booker added seven points and six rebounds. 
6 – Amaya Keeling pulled down six boards with five coming from the defensive end.
5 – Kiyanna Rodgers scored five points going 2-for-2 from the foul line.
4 – Kasey Hazell added four points and four steals. She also grabbed seven rebounds.
 
Game Highlights
The Owls started off with a 6-4 lead with two buckets from Natalie Thomas and one from Sydney Booker. MBU held the Owls scoreless for the remainder of the first quarter leading the game to a 6-point lead, 12-6.
 
Jumpers from Thomas and Taneigh Boyd helped the Owls trail by two, 12-10, but MBU responded with a three and a field-goal increasing the lead to 17-10 with 6:57 left on the second quarter. Thomas scored a jumper passed by Katie Keilholz to trail by four, 23-19. MBU scored the final two-pointer of the second period, going into halftime leading the Owls 25-19.
 
The Owls had a 9-4 run in the beginning of the third quarter to trail by two, 29-27, with 6:07 left. MBU recorded the following nine points in a row to increase the lead once again to 36-27 with 1:26 left. Boyd scored one free-throw and the final point for the Owls on the third quarter as MBU scored five more. MBU outscored the Owls, 16-9.

MBU ignited a 9-0 run in the beginning of the fourth quarter when they had the largest lead of the game by 22. The Owls scored 15 more points but ended up falling short to MBU, 58-45.
