FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's basketball team fell to Williams Baptist University Thursday evening after a rough third quarter. The 63-58 loss brings the Owls to 5-11 on the season with a 3-6 conference mark.

The Owls begin the second half of their four-game home stretch on Saturday, Jan. 14, with a 1 p.m. tip-off versus Lyon College (Ark.).

A neck-and-neck first quarter ended with WBU holding a two-point lead over the Owls, 15-13.
The Owls blasted a 7-0 run over a two-minute span with six points coming from
Natalie Thomas to take a five-point lead, 24-19. WBU answered with an 8-0 run to take back the lead, but the Owls ended the half with a 7-0 run to possess a four-point lead heading into halftime, 31-27.
The Owls opened the second half a layup from
Jersee Wren and a three from
Katie Keilholz to take a nine-point lead, 36-27. WBU answered with a 10-2 to cut the game to one, and they took the lead just three buckets later. The lead bounced around, but WBU ended the quarter with a four-point lead, 48-44.
Back-to-back jumpers from Thomas and Wren evened the score just a minute in, but WBU answered with a 10-1 run to take up a nine-point lead with five minutes to play, 58-49. Back-to-back buckets from Thomas cut the game to four with 18 seconds to go, but the Owls were unable to get any closer.
