TOPEKA, Kan. – The No. 22 William Woods University women's tennis team opened the spring season with a 7-0 loss to NCAA Division II Washburn University. Washburn was ranked No. 15 in the ITA Preseason Coaches Poll.
Hanna Lindeboom and
Marta Calvo Larraz won the Owls' lone match of the day on court one in doubles. They defeated Sonia Smagina and Marta Torres 6-4.
The duo of
Eline Drent and
Lena Greefs on court two made a run to clinch the doubles point, taking their opponents to a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-2).
