SALINA, Kan.— Woods tennis, on the downward slope of their fall schedule, traveled to Kansas Wesleyan University for the ITA Central-West Region Championship Tournament. The Owls, who boast several past champions, were unable to advance anyone past the round of 32.  

In singles play, Liv Zecher toppled Ishane Derman from Concordia (Neb.) in consecutive sets before losing to Heart Rival, Texas Wesleyan's Paulina Hudson. Manon Grasset fell just short in her opening matchup with OKWU's Nancy Henderson. Johanna Fahrenholz dropped consecutive sets in her matchup with Texas Wesleyan's Karen Rojas, while Charlotte Ready lost on a 10-5 tiebreaker to OKWU's Oceance Frendjian. 

Slotted in the #12 seed, Chloe Hecker beat Morningside's Jil Exelmans by 6-3, 7(7)-6(3) scorelines to advance to the round of 32 where she fell in consecutive sets to Texas Wesleyan's Adiya Adbugappar. Elise Vandewiele rounded out Owls singles play with a consecutive set loss to McPherson College's number one.  

Doubles play showed similar results for the Owls, as none of the three pairings were able to advance into the quarterfinal stage. The top pairing of Bieke Roovers and Hecker topped McPherson's #1 pairing before falling in the round of 16 by an 8-1 scoreline in their matchup with Concordia's top mark. Woods pairing of Grasset and Ebonie Russel fell short in their matchup against the host's pairing 8-2 in the opening round. Ready and Zecher defeated Morningside in a 9(7)-8(4) thriller before falling short 8-4 against Texas Wesleyan.
