Owls Split at Missouri Valley

MARSHALL, Mo. – The William Woods University softball team split with Missouri Valley Tuesday afternoon in a doubleheader series. The Owls won game one, 3-2, before succumbing to a 5-2 loss in game two.
 
The Owls move to 6-17 on the season.
 
 
  • Arianna Donovan scored the winning rule on a solo home run in the sixth inning.
  • Crystal Ruden scored the first run of the game on Mariah Prince's sacrifice fly in the first inning.
  • Ally Mahoney hit a RBI single to score Jessica Keilholz and even the score in the fourth.
  • The Owls were outhit 7-5. All five hits came from different batters.
  • Pitching: Sarah Randermann (4-8) pitched the complete game win. She struck out three and allowed two runs.
 
 
  • The Owls scored both runs in the fourth inning on two solo home runs (Jessica Keilholz and Mariah Prince).
  • MVC scored one in the second and four in the sixth to take the lead.
  • The Owls were outhit 11-4. All four hits came from different batters.
  • Pitching: Jessica Keilholz (2-8) started in the circle and was credited with the loss. She pitched 5.0 innings, struck out three and allowed four earned runs. Sarah Randermann pitched the final inning and struck out three of the six batters faced.
 
 

The Owls are home for the next five doubleheaders, starting with MidAmerica Nazarene on Friday, March 17. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
