Softball Splits Down in Arkansas

Arkansas – The William Woods University softball team played two sets of doubleheaders down in Arkansas over the Easter weekend. The Owls started the trip with two losses to Central Baptist. On Saturday, they swept Williams Baptist University with two high scoring games.
 
The Owls move to 14-19 on the season with an 8-2 conference mark. The Owls sit tied for third in the conference just over halfway through their conference season.  
 
 
 

The Owls host Columbia College on Tuesday, April 11, starting at 2 p.m.

  • CBC put up seven runs in the fourth inning to allow them to short-game the Owls.
  • The Owls were held to two hits and no runs in the second game shutout.
  • Iliana Manzano and Arianna Donovan recorded the Owls' two hits. Manzano's was a double in the first inning.
  • Pitching: Jessica Keilholz (5-9) pitched the complete game and was credited with the loss.

  • The Owls posted nine hits for eight runs. They scored two in the first, one in the third, three in the fourth, the go-ahead run in the fifth and one in the sixth.
  • Mia Santos blasted two solo home runs – one in the fourth and one in the fifth.
  • Taylor Bell finished with two hits.
  • Jaden Swift and Mia Santos each recorded two RBI.
  • Pitching: Sarah Randermann (7-9) pitched the complete game win. She struck out six in her 7.0 innings in the circle.

  • The Owls put up 11 runs on 14 hits. They plated five in the second, one in the third, four in the fifth and one in the seventh.
  • Crystal Ruden went 4-4 from the plate with two runs scored and a RBI.
  • Ally Mahoney went 3-4 from the plate with a run scored and a RBI.
  • Iliana Manzano went 2-4 from the plate with a home run, a double, five RBI and one run scored.
  • Pitching: Jessica Keilholz (6-9) pitched the complete game win. She struck out three.
