Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 MCKENZIE, Tenn. - Jessica Keilholz had a two-run home run in game one and
Rylee Hagens collected a two-RBI double in game two, but William Woods (5-11) came up short in both ends of the doubleheader to Bethel (5-5) on Friday, falling 10-2 after five innings in game one and dropping game two by an 8-4 count.
Bethel led off game one with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first and scratched another across in the bottom of the third.
Woods pulled two runs back in the top of the fourth, with
Sydney Wilbeck reaching on a one-out single.
Ella Aguiar wasn't able to get a bead on Lauren Reimsnyder's pitching, striking out to leave Wilbeck at first. Keilholz, however, was able to spot something in the delivery, connecting for a two-run bomb to pull WWU within a 3-2 margin.
The Wildcats answered with four runs in the bottom of the fourth and added three more in the fifth to bring an early end to proceedings.
The Owls were able to string together a very productive second inning in game two, with singles by
Arianna Donovan and
Ally Mahoney bookending a flyout by
Iliana Manzano.
Callie Zarcone drew a walk to load the bases and set the stage for Woods.
Madison Leckrone plated Donovan with a grounder to second before Hagens emptied the bases with a two-out double. A passed ball moved Hagens up 60 feet for an RBI single by Wilbeck, giving WWU a 4-2 lead.
Bethel was able to reclaim the lead at 5-4 with a three-spot in the bottom of the second, however, and despite threatening in the top of the third and top of the fourth, WWU couldn't assemble a comeback.
The Owls continue their road warrior swing, heading to Parkville, Mo., on Tuesday for a road doubleheader against former AMC foe Park University. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
