ST. LOUIS, Mo. - After spending most of the spring season as the no. 1-ranked NAIA men's singles player by the ITA,
Vaclav Schneider was named the AMC/Heart/SAC Men's Tennis Player of the Year as announced prior to the 2024 AMC/Heart/SAC NAIA Championship Qualifier on Wednesday.
Schneider was joined by
Ben Grumley as a first team all-conference men's singles honoree, with the Owls landing all six starting singles players on either the first or second team.
In addition to Grumley and Schneider on the first team,
Andres De Los Rios Kolejewska,
Stepan Mach,
Zinovii Nahirniak and
Vitek Subert earned second team all-conference accolades. Woods also saw all three doubles teams earn all-conference honors, with the pairings of Grumley/Nahirniak and Schneider/Subert earning first team recognition and Kolejewska and
Felix Diedrichs earning a second team nod.
William Woods enters tournament play as the no. 1 seed, holding down the no. 11 ranking in the final NAIA Coaches Top 25 as well as the no. 9 rank in the ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings sponsored by Tennis Point, both released on Wednesday.
The Owls will face the winner of the quarterfinal match between no. 4 seed Texas Wesleyan and no. 5 seed John Brown, with first serve in the doubles slated for 5 p.m.
