FULTON, Mo.- William Woods University (2-2-3) fell short versus The University of Jamestown (2-1-0). The Owls, despite playing well, fell by a score of 2-0 on two goals from Jimmie striker Gaby Sarkis and amazing play from their keeper.
The Owls looked to crack the scoring column right out of the gate when freshman standout Zoe Lockhert rocketed a well struck shot towards the top of the goal, but the shot was deflected by the Jimmie keeper Isa Garcia.
The Jimmies on the counter, raced down the field to challenge reigning AMC defensive player of the week Belle Boschert. Jamestown player, Eve Hoppe, laced a shot straight into the hands of Boschert.
Both keepers noted stellar performances in the first half. The Jimmies keeper notched five saves in the half, three of which were SC Top Ten worthy. Bochert answered the incredible play and tallied four saves in the half. The one ball that got past Belle was a goal by the Jimmie striker Gaby Sarkis, resulting in a 1-0 score to end the half.
The Jimmie Offense scored their second goal just minutes into the first half when Sarkis took a ball end to end and snuck her second goal by the diving body of Belle Boschert.
The Owls were not able to score in the second half, due to the continued incredible play from the Jamestown keeper. Throughout the game Woods tallied 15 total shots, six of which were on goal. However, all six were saved by the Jamestown keeper.
William Woods is back in action on Wednesday, September 11th in Jefferson City, Missouri, to take on Lincoln University. Kick-off is set for 6 p.m.
