COLUMBIA, Mo. – The William Woods University volleyball team (15-5, 7-3 Heart) hit the road Wednesday night to face a familiar non-conference opponent in Stephens College (12-9).

The Owls and Stars battled point-for-point early in the opening set before Stephens pulled ahead midway through. A timeout from head coach Aubrey Wilson helped Woods regain some momentum, but the Stars held on to take the first set, 25-22.

Woods came out strong in the second set, jumping to a 6-1 lead and forcing an early Stephens timeout. The Owls' front line continued to shine as Pamela Durazo, Luciana Pavia Pereira, and Ivi Marolino each tallied three kills. Despite the hot start, Stephens rallied to overtake Woods and claim the second set, 25-18.

The Stars carried that momentum into the third, applying steady pressure as the Owls struggled to find rhythm. Stephens would go on to close out the match with a 25-16 victory, completing the 3-0 sweep over William Woods.

William Woods is back in action tomorrow for a quick turnaround as they head to St. Louis to take on the Missouri Baptist Spartans for more Heart of America play.
