FULTON, Mo.- William Woods women's basketball (2-9) hosted former AMC opponent Columbia College (11-0) on Tuesday night inside Anderson Arena. The Cougs continued their winning streak, pushing it to 11 straight wins against the Owls.
The Freshman combo of Abby Alivernia and Mya Pflasterer tallied the first two buckets for the Owls, seeing a four-point deadlock in the first minute of play. The Cougars then started their run, scoring six unanswered. Columbia hammered home 21 points in the quarter, taking a 14-point advantage into the second frame.
The Owls battled back and forth with the Cougars in the middle half, but were unable to outscore their fast-paced offense in any quarter. Woods entered the fourth quarter facing an 18-point deficit, and ended the frame down by 25 for a 75-50 finish.
Highlights of the night for the Owls included an impressive 23-point performance from Jersee Wren and a solid 14-point contribution from Pflasterer.
The Owls travel to Saint Louis to take on University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy on Thursday.
