BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - William Woods University competitive cheerleading shined in the Baker Classic, hosted by future conference opponent Baker University, placing second out of five teams with 80.45 points Saturday at Collins Center.
The Owls were just 2.96 points away from earning their first first-place finish as MidAmerica Nazarene University topped the leaderboard with 83.41 points.
"This week, we focused on upping our difficulty for both teams, as well as cleanliness so that we could receive our final judge critiques before heading into our final AMC championship!" Director of Owl Spirit
Toni Snyder said. "On the cheer side, we entered the competition with high hopes of winning our first program win outside of duals. Our execution kept us three points away from this goal, but coming so close to a historically nationally ranked MNU definitely created a mindset shift as we head into conference."
William Woods competes in its final American Midwest Conference Championship next Saturday at Arena of Southwell Complex in Columbia.Â
