Box Score FULTON, Mo. - No. 17 William Woods University (9-5, 2-0 Heart of America Athletic Conference) dominated singles play, taking all but one of the six matchups en route to beating Missouri Valley College (3-4, 0-1) 5-2 in its Heart home opener Saturday at Suzanne Neal Memorial Tennis Complex.

Before the Owls commanded the court in singles, the Vikings did so in doubles. WWU's
Noah Burton and
Robbie Schorr lost 7-5 at the top position,
Aoi Ooka and
Jesper Seger fell 6-3 at the two slot and
Cole Horton and
Paulo Lopes Ferreira dropped a 6-2 decision at the three line.
William Woods didn't look back once singles started, winning the first five matchups: The Owls'
Thomas Geukemeijer won 6-1, 6-1 at the four, Burton, ranked 41st in the latest ITA NAIA men's tennis singles rankings, prevailed 6-4, 6-1 at the one, Ooka, ranked 71st, took a 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 decision at the three, Horton earned a 6-4, 6-3 victory at the two and Schorr sealed WWU's team triumph with a 6-4, 6-2 win at the six.
Seger suffered the Owls' lone singles loss, falling 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 at the five line.
Venturing away from NAIA opposition, William Woods hosts NCAA Division II Maryville University (3-7) at 3 p.m. Friday.
