DES MOINES, Iowa - In William Woods University's final outdoor track and field meet of the regular season,
Demario Wright won the 400-meter dash at the Viking Classic, hosted by Grand View University, Friday at Duke Williams Stadium.
Wright crossed the finish line in 50.9 seconds to win the 14-competitor 400 by 0.99 seconds. In addition to his gold medal, Wright added a bronze to his collection on the day, achieving that in the 28-runner 200 dash with a time of 22.44.
Tanner Gillaspy also put together a pair of strong showings for the Owls, placing fourth out of 15 in the javelin at 38.2 meters (125 feet and 4 inches) and fourth in the 400 at 52.57.

Michael Moore-Fondren also had a couple of solid displays, taking sixth out of 23 in the 100 dash at a season-best 11.16 and sixth in the 200 at 22.6.

Gregory A. Keeler said. "Despite the cold, windy conditions, they ran well. I feel like we are ready for conference."
The Owls will give it all they've got when they travel to Edwardsville, Illinois, for the American Midwest Conference Championships from Wednesday to Thursday at one of the Midwest's premier track and field facilities, Ralph Korte Stadium.
