Parmer Nets First Goal of Season in Loss to CMU

FULTON, Mo.— Owls women's soccer (4-7-1, 2-6-1 Heart) suffered a four-goal loss in their matchup with Central Methodist University (9-3-1, 7-1-1 Heart). The Eagles took a commanding lead early but gave up a pair of goals in the second half that narrowed their victory margin to four.

CMU jumped on the offensive efforts early, notching their first goal just after the two-minute mark. Sara Garcia slotted a perfectly placed shot just past the Owls keeper. The Eagles extended this early lead just one minute and forty seconds later when Beatrice Aime beat the keeper for her second goal of the season.

Central Methodist tacked on one more goal before the break. Madison Davis beat the keeper on the far side of the goal after the corner kick was delivered directly to her. The ball soared into the box and deflected off Tilde Dessle where Davis was able to fire off a wide-open shot from close range that found the back of the net.

Both squads put shots on frame in the closing minutes of the half but were unable to alter the score before the horn.

The Eagle offense netted their fourth goal of the contest just nine minutes after the break when Aime found her third goal of the season, second of the contest. Not even five minutes later Dessle found her lone goal of the contest. Following the Eagles fifth goal of the game, the CMU staff elected for a line change that saw an almost entirely new 11 for the squad.

This lapse in warmup time gave the Owls an advantage as Woods was able to tack on two goals. Olivia Menard netted the first WWU goal, firing a ball over the new keeper's head. Nine minutes later, in the 80th minute, the Owls captain scored her first goal of the season, second in her four-year career. Macie Parmer, the center-back from Columbia, Mo., received a cross-field pass on the near side and lofted a high arcing shot over the keeper and into the back of the net.

Following the goal, CMU returned their starters to the field where they tacked on a final goal in the last 22 seconds of the match to cement the 6-2 scoreline.

The Owls host Grand View University on Friday night at the NCAC.
