FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods (2-19, 2-14 Heart) women's basketball dropped a home contest Tuesday evening, falling 68–50 to Missouri Baptist (8-13, 7-8 Heart) inside Anderson Arena.
Missouri Baptist came out strong early, opening the game with a 22–12 first-quarter advantage and maintaining control throughout the first half. The Spartans extended their lead at the break after outscoring the Owls 17–6 in the second quarter to take a 39–18 halftime lead.
William Woods showed improved energy coming out of the locker room, putting together its best offensive stretch in the third quarter. The Owls matched Missouri Baptist with 18 points in the quarter and continued to battle through the final 10 minutes, adding 14 more points in the fourth.
Despite the second-half push from the Owls, they would drop their contest with the Spartans 68-50, with Mariah Prince leading the score with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Noku Mundoringisa added 9 points, with Mya Pflasterer and Brooklyn Dougherty adding 8 points.
William Woods will look to regroup as they head to Grand View Saturday to take on the Vikings at noon.
