SALINA, Kan. - William Woods Flag Football was set for a difficult challenge in KCAC opponent Kansas Wesleyan University. The Coyotes' defense was too much for the Owls' offense, resulting in a 0-32 loss for the Woods.
The two teams struggled against the other early in the contest. Multiple defensive stops held the game at zeroes until there were just eight seconds on the clock in the first quarter. With time running down, KWU was able to find the end zone for the first time, taking the lead going into the second period.
From there, the Coyotes would add 26 more uncontested to take down the Owls.
Shamya Williams completed 17 passes for 98 yards. Addie Chilek led the Woods' receivers with seven receptions for 38 yards.
Chilek controlled the defense as well, pulling 11 flags. Nivea Boyd added 10 tackles. Olivia Menard continued to be a problem in the secondary, intercepting the quarterback twice.
William Woods Flag Football returns to Fulton on Wednesday, April 1st at 4 p.m. for a conference game against the University of Saint Mary.
