OTTAWA, Kan. – William Woods (4-8, 4-6 KCAC) traveled to Kansas for the first round of the KCAC Women's flag football championship, where they would play Baker University (14-3, 7-2 KCAC. The Owls could not muster any offense in this match as they fell to the Wildcats, 32-6.
Woods would get into a hole early as the Wildcats would intercept the pass from
Sam Menard and take it back to the house for an early 8-0 lead. The Wildcats would continue their excellent defense with another interception to score to set them up for their second touchdown of the game on the following drive.
Baker would continue to tack on another touchdown before the end of the first quarter to go up on the Owls 20-0 early. Baker would tack on another touchdown at the start of the second as the Owls had no answer for their offense.
Wood's defense would not allow a score for the rest of the half, as
Sam Menard would pull down an interception late in the half to stop the Wildcats from scoring before halftime.
Baker would get the ball out of the half and put up their final touchdown of the game with a long drive featured by some great defense. Later in the third quarter, the Owls would get their offense going after an interception from
Sam Menard, who would then find
Addie Chilek three plays later in the end zone for a Woods touchdown.
Each offense would go dormant in the final quarter of the game as the final would stay as the Owls could not dig into the lead of the Wildcats and drop their final game of the year, 32-6.
The Owls wrap up their season with a final record of 4-8, and with a 4-6 record in conference, looking to build on their season next spring.
