Owls Jump Back on Track with 4-1 Senior Day Win

FULTON, Mo.- William Woods women's tennis, who recently dropped out of the NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll for the first time in a decade, ended their four match losing streak with a 4-1 win versus Midland University on senior day at the Suzanne Neal Memorial Tennis Complex on Saturday afternoon. Woods, who celebrated long time Owls Samya Sikand, Kristinia Dimitrijevic and Zara Littlejohn, jumped out to an early lead before securing the match clinch in #4 singles.

Woods took a commanding lead with phenomenal doubles play from all three pairings with Charlotte Ready and Sikand in #1 doubles, Littlejohn and Dimitrijevic in #2 doubles, and Bieke Roovers and Chloe Hecker in #3 doubles all taking wins.

In singles play, Dimitrijevic took the #1 singles win in consecutive sets with Sikand winning #2 singles in the third-set tiebreak. Woods lost in #3 singles, falling just short in three sets. To clinch the match, Manon Grasset bested her opponent in straight sets to secure the 4-1 match clinch. In #4 and #5 singles Littlejohn and freshman Elise Vandewiele were both ahead in their matchups before the clinch point.

William Woods returns next weekend, April 2nd, with a matchup against Missouri Valley College in Marshall.
