FULTON, Mo. - On a busy but very exciting weekend for William Woods athletics, in which three different programs celebrated their 2026 senior class, it might have been the Men's Lacrosse team that had the most fun. Still very much alive for a top seed in the Heart of America conference standings, the Owls took care of business against the Vikings of Missouri Valley College 29-1, involving 18 different players in the scoring process and setting a very notable program record.
The aforementioned record is the single-game total for points, previously held by
Vinny DeMarco after multiple 12 point outings. However, after a 3 goal, 10 assist night, the freshman,
Connor White, is the new record holder for the young program at 13 points. White has been a focal point of the offense all season, highlighted by a 10 point game against Ottawa earlier on, and has a bright future as a staple in the team's attack.
Before the young attacker stole the show, the day was dedicated to the three seniors that have each committed themselves to the first two years of the Lacrosse program at William Woods.
Ethan NewMyer,
Jack Brackin, and
Wilson Robbins helped establish a team that strives for excellence in every performance, and today was no different. NewMyer tallied his fourth hat trick of the season, putting his career goals in green and white at 54. Brackin found the back of the net twice, improving his two-year total to 35. Even Robbins, the defenseman, flung a shot into the goal, marking the first of his successful college career.
Robbins was not the only Owl to score career goal number one, though.
Loren Woita,
Drew Longmeyer (2),
Cameron Snow,
Drew Hannam,
Henry Mathis,
Niyi Odunoye,
Gage Loffer,
Chris Hanson,
Jacob Burgin, and
Blake Cameron each scored their first goal as a college Lacrosse player in this contest. The 11 new goal scorers and 18 total scorers each peak as program highs for a single game.
The other Owls to get involved were
Joey Weingardt and
Xavier Dockery, who each put together a hat trick,
Collis Rhodes, netting two, and
Lyle Wiley, adding one.
Freshman
Zach Hearn defended the goal for 60 minutes in today's match, giving up just one goal and saving five, earning himself the win. Sadly, he was unable to join the scoring efforts of the team from his post.
The Owls caused 15 turnovers, likely a correlated factor in the abundance of goals. Loffer led the way with three, while Robbins,
Tyler Vansant and
Kyle Fischer each forced the ball out twice.
With the victory, William Woods Men's Lacrosse advances to 5-7 on the season and 4-2 in conference play. The men are back in action for a Heart game against Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska Wednesday, April 15th at 4 p.m.
