(FAYETTE, Mo., Nov. 5)--The 16th-ranked William Woods University women's basketball team improved to 2-0 with a 72-53 win over Culver-Stockton College Friday night. The Owls are competing in the Central Methodist University Classic in Fayette, Mo.
Woods took a 39-29 lead into the half and never looked back. The Owls shot 40% from the floor in the victory. They held the Wildcats (0-2) to 36% shooting from the field.
The Owls were led in scoring by senior
Jestine Gerber (Jefferson City, Mo.) with 16 points. Senior
Rachel Baker (Mexico, Mo.) and junior
Sharron Andrews (Oakland/Hayward, Calif.) added 15, and 10, points respectively.
Junior
Megan Aubuchon (Old Monroe, Mo.) and junior
Jordan Floyd (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) had a team-high six rebounds in the WWU win. The Owls outrebounded the Wildcats 41-34.
WWU will play host Central Methodist University at 3 pm on Saturday.
