Owls Top Harris-Stowe

Gerber Scores 19 Points For WWU
(FULTON, Mo., Feb. 5)--The 21st-ranked William Woods University women's basketball team defeated American Midwest Conference rival Harris-Stowe State University Saturday in Anderson Arena. The Owls defeated the Hornets 85-63.

William Woods took a 43-27 lead at halftime and never looked back. The Owls outscored the Hornets 42-36 in the second half to cruise to its ninth AMC victory of the season. 

Jestine Gerber (Jefferson City, Mo.) led the Owls with 19 points. Gerber was 6-for-12 from the field and 5-for-10 from beyond the three-point line. She added four assists and two steals in the victory.

Megan Aubuchon (Old Monroe, Mo.) dropped in 18 points in the WWU win. Katie Scherder (Bowling Green, Mo.) reached double-figures with 10 points. Miranda Loesch (Lohman, Mo.) had a game-high 13 rebounds in the win. Sharron Andrews (Oakland/Hayward, Calif.) dished a game-high seven assists.

HSSU (1-20, 0-8) shot 38.5% from the field in the loss. WWU (22-2, 9-1) shot 47.8% from the field in the win. The Owls outrebounded the Hornets 47-33.

William Woods will return to action on February 10. The Owls travel to Hannibal-LaGrange University for another AMC match-up. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm in Hannibal, Mo.
