Box Score BELLEVILLE, Ill. -- Four players for the William Woods University women's basketball team scored in double figures as the no. 23 Owls rolled to a 73-60 win over NAIA newcomers Lindenwood University-Belleville on Saturday night.
Priscila Santos (Sao Paulo, Brazil) led the Owls with 16 points and seven rebounds on the night.
Olivia Storjohann (Eldridge, Iowa) shot 6-of-9 from the floor and hit at a 3-of-4 pace from distance en route to a 15-point outing.
The Owls led by 10 points at half and stretched the lead out to 13 by the end of the night. Three players for WWU - Santos (6-6),
Ashlee Taylor (Dexter, Mo.) (4-4) and
Blake French (St. Charles, Mo.) (4-4) - were perfect from the free throw line in the second half to preserve the win.
William Woods held a stout edge on the glass, outrebounding the Lynx by a 41-30 margin, including a 15-9 edge in offensive rebounds. WWU dished out 14 assists to 12 for LU-B and picked up 10 steals to nine for the hosts.
The win marks the first double-digit season-opening win since the 2005-06 season for William Woods.
The Owls return home on Wednesday, Nov. 7, to take on Missouri Valley College. Tipoff for the home opener is set for 7 p.m.
