Looking to avenge its only AMC loss of the 2011-12 season, the William Woods University women's basketball team will take on Hannibal-LaGrange University on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff for the contest is set for 2 p.m.

Quick Look - William Woods
Sharron Andrews (Oakland/Hayward, Calif.) continues to lead the Owl offense, with her 13.5 pts/gm good for fifth-best in the league. Her shooting percentage of .481 is third-highest in the AMC through the halfway mark and the 32nd-best clip in the nation. Megan Aubuchon (Old Monroe, Mo.) adds 9.7 pts/gm on the season, and is the team's leading rebounder with 7.5 boards per contest. Andrews pulls down a solid 6.2 reb/gm for the Owls as well, with Ashlee Taylor (Dexter, Mo.) and Miranda Loesch (Lohman, Mo.) each averaging 4.6 per game. Andrews also leads the team with 55 steals on the campaign, good for 30th in the country and third in the AMC.

Aubuchon and Loesch have also led a block party for the Owls, with 21 and 13 respectively on the season as WWU has recorded 74 on the season, good for 25th among NAIA Division I teams. Katie Scherder (Bowling Green, Mo.) has also been a contributor to William Woods' rejection mark with a dozen on the year. On a per-game basis, the Owls are 31st in the country, with 3.4 swats per contest.

As a team, the Owls are rated among the best in the nation defensively, holding opponents to a 16th-best 55.9 pts/gm on the year and allowing only a 18th-best .358 shooting pace. The squad is also ranked across all facets of the rebounding battle, pulling down 41.3 per game to rank 32nd in the country and allowing just 37.1/gm - good for 30th in the nation for rebounding margin at +4.3 and 42nd in rebounds allowed per game. With blowout wins over Stephens College and Missouri Baptist, the Owls have also moved up the ranks in scoring margin, settling in at 44th with an average margin of victory of 5.5 pts/gm

Quick Look - Hannibal-LaGrange
After opening the AMC slate with a win, HLG dropped two straight to Williams Baptist and Harris-Stowe. The Trojans recovered with wins over Stephens and Missouri Baptist, but are currently on a two-game losing streak after reversals at Columbia and against Park. Caleb Harrison's squad has been good on the glass defensively, allowing just 32.7 rebounds per game - the sixth-best team mark in the nation. Hannibal-LaGrange is also nationally ranked in a number of offensive categories, highlighted by their shooting percentage of .423 which is the 18th-best accuracy percentage among NAIA Division I teams. The Trojans are also dangerous from long range, as they rank 24th in three-pointers made (140) and 31st in 3-pt FG percentage at .320.

Individually, the Trojans are led by Ashley Wilson. The seventh-most accurate shooter in the nation (.570), she also ranks in the top 50 in steals (20th/59; 27th/2.7 per game), rebounding (27th/191; 35th/8.7 per game) and scoring (27th/191; 37th/15.0 per game). Wilson's marks are team-best across the board, with Trenee Thornton the only other standout for HLG with 3.3 assists/gm.

Looking Back
William Woods and Hannibal-LaGrange tangled to open the AMC conference slate for each team, with the Owls comeback effort falling just short as they dropped a 65-68 result. The teams battled through the first half to go into the locker room tied at 26-26, before Hannibal-LaGrange rode a hot streak to a 507-37 lead with just over 14 minutes to go in the game. WWU mounted a furious comeback down the stretch, eventually pulling even at 65-65 with 14 seconds left. The Trojans' Ashleigh Spencer was able to hit a three with 1.1 seconds on the clock, but the last-gasp effort from the Owls on the ensuing inbounds play didn't yield a clean look at the basket.

Milestone Watch
During the 2011-12 season, head coach Dan Chapla is within reach of a pair of milestone wins. He is four victories away from his 100th at William Woods and needs just two wins to crest the 50 victory mark in conference play.
