BALDWIN CITY, Kan. -- Amanda Henley (Jefferson City, Mo.) led the defense for the William Woods University volleyball team with 15 digs on the afternoon as the Owls took on no. 20-ranked Bellevue in the Baker University Invitational. WWU kept pace through the first two sets but fell 0-3 (21-25, 20-25, 17-20) on Friday afternoon.
Sarah Wehmeyer (Carrollton, Texas) recorded 23 assists in the match, while
Kristen Bauer (St. Charles, Mo.) posted a team-high 11 kills on the day, adding a solo block and two block assists in the contest.
The Owls pushed in the first set, never trailing by more than three until Bellevue claimed the set point. William Woods managed to roll out to a 12-7 lead in the second, but the Bruins responded with two three-point runs and a four-point run to reclaim the lead at 14-17 and held on for the set.
William Woods could never recover from a 1-6 run to start the third set, despite a pair of 3-0 spurts powered by Bruin errors.

Emma Aschenbrenner (Broomfield, Colo.) posted a team-high .166 attack percentage with Wehmeyer picking up her fifth double-double (25 assists, 14 digs), but the Owls succumbed to Kansas Wesleyan by a 0-3 margin (21-25, 23-25, 21-25).
Emily Nolte (Higginsville, Mo.) recorded 16 digs and Henley added 11.
William Woods (2-5) closes out the tournament on Saturday with a 1 p.m. match against Ottawa University and a 5 p.m. duel with Benedictine College.
