Woods Wraps up Season with Conference Tournament Loss to Missouri Baptist

CREVE COEUR, Mo. – William Woods volleyball (19–12, 10–8 Heart) wrapped up its season Saturday afternoon with a 3–0 loss to #2 (#17 NAIA) Missouri Baptist (28–5, 17–1 Heart) inside the Carl & Deloris Petty SRC. The nationally ranked Spartans took the match by scores of 25–20, 25–21, and 25–15.

William Woods traded points early in the opening set, pulling even at 2–2 after a service ace from Ivi Marcolino and taking a 7–6 lead following a kill by Roberta Carlos de Silva and another ace from Luciana Paiva Pereira

Missouri Baptist responded with a string of kills from Gabi Jakubowska and Allana Capella, capitalizing on key service aces to swing momentum and grow a mid-set lead. The Owls fought back late, using a Pamela Durazo ace and back-to-back blocks from senior setter Erin Treis and freshman middle Lennon Adams to trim the deficit to 23–19, but the Spartans closed the frame 25–20.

After 7–1 MBU lead early in set two prompted a timeout, the Owls rallied with a run of blocks and kills from Durazo, Carlos de Silva, and Pereira, eventually tying the score at 13–13. A service ace by Cecilia Campos briefly gave WWU the lead, but Missouri Baptist's attack regained control to take the set 25–21 despite a late push that included another Pereira kill and a Durazo finish.

The third set followed a similar pattern. Woods kept pace early, tying things at 13–13 before the Spartans surged ahead on a 12–2 closing run. Despite key defensive stands—including a key block from Durazo the Owls ultimately fell 25–15.

Durazo led the team with six kills on a .333 hitting clip and tallied six total blocks (one solo, five assists). Pereira and Marcolino each added eight kills, while Treis dished out 15 assists and contributed five digs. Carlos de Silva chipped in four kills, five digs, and five block assists as the Owls totaled seven team blocks and four service aces.

The Woods is set for the 2026 year, returning 20 players for head coach Aubrey Wilson
