Owls Host Nationally Ranked Hannibal-LaGrange Tomorrow Night

Burich looks to add to his four goals on the season against Hannibal-LaGrange tomorrow night.
FULTON, Mo.—The William Woods men's soccer team looks to win its fifth game at home this season, as the Owls play host to no. 13 Hannibal-LaGrange Trojans.

Last Time Out
The Owls (5-4; 2-0 AMC), picked up its second American Midwest Conference victory last Saturday afternoon, defeating Benedictine University at Springfield 6-2. The Owls got two goals from Joao Paulo Parra and Marcelo Carreiro. The duo combined for eight shots in the game, while Carreiro assisted on three of the Owls first four goals in the game.

Sebastian Burich and Jacob Hawes picked up the other goals on the day for the team, with freshman goalkeeper Evan Melone picking up the victory making two saves.

Hannibal-LaGrange (6-2-1; 3-1 AMC), suffered its first conference loss on the season on the road against Lyon College 2-1. The Trojans grabbed the early 1-0 in the 8th minute, as Alain de Oliveira scored his first goal on the season. The Scots, however, responded by tying the game up four minutes later and added the game winner at the 62:56 mark in the second half for the one goal victory.

Head-To-Head
The Trojans hold an 11-7-3 record against the Owls over the 21 meetings, with HLG winning the previous four meetings, including eliminating WWU from the AMC semifinals last year. The last victory for the Owls came in 2009, with a 1-0 win.

Records Add Up For Owls
The Owls six goals against BenU-Springfield is a season high for the team and was just three off the record for most goals in a match (9). Also, with his three assists against the Bulldogs, Carreiro is the second Owl this season to tie the record for most assists in a game (3). Parra tied his own record that he set last year this season, with three assists against Culver-Stockton.

Advantage Owls At Home
In front of the home crowd, the Owls are 4-1 on the season, outscoring its opponents (Avila, Culver-Stockton, Webster University, Lindenwood-Belleville, BenU-Springfield) 18-5. The team has a shot advantage of 105-49, including holding those five teams' to just 16 second half shots.

Carreiro has added all of his goals (6) and assists (4) at home, and totaled 14 shots. Parra has four goals, three assists and a team high 23 shots in front of the home fans. Burich, like Carreiro, has picked up all his goals (4) and assists (2) in the five games at home, and tied Carreiro in shots with 14.

Nationally Ranked On Offense
The teams' offense currently ranks 32nd in the NAIA in shots per game (17.6) and Parra has played a part in that role, as the senior is averaging 4.33 shots per game, placing him 24th in the NAIA. Carreiro and Burich both rank in the top 40 (38th) in game winning goals (2). In the AMC, the trio ranks in the top 15 in points and goals, while ranking in the top 25 in assists and shots per game.
 
Traveling A Minimum Rest Of Season
After the game against HLG, the Owls have three home and five road games remaining on the season. The benefit is the Owls do not leave the state of Missouri the rest of the year, as the farthest the team will have to travel this season will be to Park University.

Senior Day Next Home Game
On October 12th at 1:00 p.m. the Owls host Williams Baptist College and prior to the game the team will be honoring the departing seniors that include Robertt Butvin, Kyle Matthews, Adam Roberts, Henrique Bertolino Pinto, Parra, Carreiro, Ryan Miller, Kyle Konigsberg and Edvin Osmar Cabrera.

Players Too Look Out For- William Woods
Burich, Carreiro and Parra have combined to total 15 of the teams' 21 goals on the season and have contributed 10 of the Owls 12 assists. Hawes, Jesse Jordan, Paulo Conelian, Kyle Matthews and Alex Severino have added one goal each on the season.

In net, the duo of Robertt Butvin and Melone have combined for 810:00 minutes, allowing just 15 goals, a goals against average of 1.67 and 30 saves.

Players Too Look Out For- Hannibal-LaGrange
The Trojans are led by Manuel Saez, who has totaled a team high five goals and 11 points through nine games. Another player to look out for will be Joao Junqueira, as he has added three goals and contributed a team high four assists. Junqueira and Saez both are tied for a team high in shots with 19, with Junqueira landing the most on goal (12).

Logan Miller has played all 830:00 minutes in net, allowing just eight goals, making 33 saves, earning himself a goals against average of 0.870 and a save percentage of 0.805. His 0.870 GAA is tops in the AMC.
