KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Matthew Dworak of William Woods (Mo.) has been named the NAIA Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after anchoring the Owls' defense in a pivotal pair of matches to close the regular season.
Dworak played a key role in a 2-1 victory over No. 2 MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.), turning away nine shots to hand the Pioneers a rare defeat. He followed that effort with a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw against Benedictine (Kan.), a result that secured William Woods a spot in the conference tournament in the program's first season in the Heart of America Conference.
The senior goalkeeper totaled 11 saves across the two contests and posted a .917 save percentage.
William Woods will challenge Baker (Kan.) on Tuesday, Nov. 4, in the first round of the conference tournament.
