FULTON, Mo.—The William Woods men's soccer team will look to for its fifth American Midwest Conference victory against Freed-Hardeman on Tuesday night. Kick-off will start at 7:00 p.m.
Last Time Out
The Owls (7-6; 4-2 AMC), are coming off a hard fought 2-1 victory over Williams Baptist College on Saturday afternoon. Matheus Allonso and the Eagles took an early 1-0 on the Owls at the 23:58 mark and were able to hold onto that lead until the half.
The Owls offense pressured the Eagles defense and goalie Javier Piedra totaling 10 shots, while WBC only forced three shots. In the second half, the Owls came out with much more energy and it paid off as
Marcelo Carreiro was tripped inside the 18 yard box, giving the Owls a penalty kick.
Alan Matthew took the penalty kick, scoring his first goal on the season and tying the game back up at 1-1 in the 53
rd minute. Just 4:00 minutes later, the team was awarded a free kick and
Kyle Konigsberg's kick into the box found the foot of
Jacob Hawes, giving the Owls a 2-1 advantage.
The team was able to hold onto that one goal lead for the rest of the game, even after they were forced to play down a man after one of the Owls players received a red card. The Owls outshot the Eagles 14-10 in the game, with
Evan Melone picking up the win in net making three saves.
In their first season in the AMC, Freed-Hardeman (7-5; 2-5 AMC) has an overall record above .500, but has only won two conference games, defeating Park University (3-2) and Harris-Stowe (3-0). The Lions are coming off a 2-1 road loss against Missouri Baptist University.
Matias Bravo tied the game up at 1-1 with just .36 seconds left in the game, but after a scoreless first overtime, the Spartans scored the game winner with just over 1:00 minute remaining, handing FHU their fifth conference loss.

This will be the first ever matchup between the two schools.
Owls Tough At Home
Teams that come to Fulton, Mo., to play the Owls on Firley Field have struggled, as WWU is 5-2 on the season in front of the home crowd, outscoring its opponents 21-8.
Regular Season Winding Down
After the game against Freed-Hardeman, their will only be four games remaining on the schedule before the conference tournament begins. The team has one more home game on Saturday October 19
th against Lyon College, then the Owls will be on the road to close out the year against improved teams in Park University, Missouri Baptist and Southwest Baptist University.
Team Looks To Close Out Season On Winning Streak
Since the Owls won three straight games back in September, the team since then has been unable to win its second game following a victory. In each loss following a victory, the Owls have fallen by just one goal.
Senior Day Against Lyon College

th at 1:00 p.m. the Owls host Lyon College and prior to the game the team will be honoring the departing seniors that include

Kyle Konigsberg.
Team Looks For School Record
If the Owls defeat Freed-Hardeman, the team will have set a school record with the most conference victories. The record of four wins was set back in 2009 in Head Coach
Nathan Mason's second season, and it was tied again last year. Also, Coach Mason is just one win away from picking up his 60
th career victory as an Owl. He is already the WWU record holder with the most victories as the men's soccer coach.
Players To Look Out For- William Woods
Carreiro leads the Owls on offense totaling seven goals, four assists and 18 points on the season. Parra continues to be a standout player for the Owls, totaling five goals, five assists for 15 points and leads the team in shots with 48. Carreiro and Parra also rank in the top 15 in the AMC in goals and points.
Sebastian Burich has totaled four goals on the season, while Hawes,
Jesse Jordan and
Alex Severino have each chipped in two.
In net, Melone has appeared in the last six games for the team, earning a goals against average of 1.62 and a save percentage of .714 over 443:23 minutes played.
Players To Look Out For- Freed-Hardeman
The Lions are led by Christopher Campbell on offense, who has totaled six goals, three assists, for 15 points through 12 games on the season. Sam Simpson is second on the team with three goals, but is leading FHU in assists with five, for 11 points. Christian Falk, Jermaine Steele and Stefano Basso each have contributed two goals.
In goal, Hunter Yoches has played in seven games this season, having a goals against average of 1.39, allowing just 10 goals for a save percentage of .744.
