No. 19 Owls Host Lindenwood-Belleville For A Non-Conference Tilt On Monday

FULTON, Mo. ­-- The No. 19-ranked William Woods University women's basketball team returns to action after a nine day break as they host future American Midwest Conference opponent Lindenwood University-Belleville. Tip-off for this game, sponsored by Mo-X, set for 7 p.m.

William Woods (4-1) suffered its first loss of the season its last time out, as they ran into a hot-shooting College of the Ozarks team and fell 82-67. The Owls allowed a season-high 82 points and allowed the No. 10-ranked team in NAIA Division II to shoot a blistering 55.6 percent from the floor, and an even better 57.1 percent from three-point land.

Despite the loss, senior guard Katie Scherder turned in a solid performance as she was one of three Owls to score double-figures with her 16-point performance. The Bowling Green, Mo., native has posted double-digits in all but one game this season, and leads the team in scoring with her 14 points per game average.

Fellow senior Stephanie Copelin has played equally as well by averaging 11.8 points per contest this season. The O'Fallon, Ill., native has recorded double-digits in three games this season which includes a pair of 15-point performances.

Lindenwood University-Belleville (8-3) is riding a two-game winning streak coming into Monday's match up. The Lady Lynx last loss came to the hands of William Woods, as the Owls defeated LU-B 82-75 in Belleville on Nov. 19.

Shelby Korhman leads a high-octane offense that is averaging 86.4 points per game this season on a 49.3 percent shooting from the floor. In fact, Korhman is just one of four players on the roster that averages double-digits.

LU-B, who enters the AMC next season, has already faced an AMC opponent four times and holds a 3-1 record in those games, with wins against Stephens College, Harris-Stowe, and No. 15 Columbia College. The lone loss in those for games came to William Woods almost three weeks ago.

The Owls were able to rally from a late eight-point deficit to record the seven-point victory over Lindenwood-Belleville on Nov. 19. Scherder scored a season-high 19 points, and Blake French came off the bench to post a season-best 14 points. Korhman scored a game-high 20 points for the Lady Lynx in the loss.
