Santos Nets A Career-High 27 In A 75-62 Win Over Park University

FULTON, Mo. – Priscila Santos continued her hot streak on Thursday night as she scored a career-high 29 points to help the no. 23-ranked William Woods University women's basketball team to a 75-62 victory over Park University.

Santos extends her 20-point scoring streak to six games as she sets a new career-high in points for the third time in four games. The Brazilian native hit 10-of-12 shots to help William Woods (21-4, 12-3 AMC) shoot a blistering 53.3 percent on the night.

The Owls defense forced Park University (7-17, 4-11 AMC) to 20 turnover and held them to just 35.6 percent from the floor.

The Pirates connected on five of their first six shots to take an early 11-7 lead. William Woods used a 5-0 run to take its first lead at 12-11 after an Olivia Storjohann three-point basket at the 14:45 mark.

The Owls would to 21-4 run over that lasted over eight minutes to take a 13-point at 29-16 with 6:30 remaining in the half. Park responded with a 6-0 run of its own to pull the game back within single-digits at 29-22, forcing William Woods to call a timeout with 5:02 on the clock.

The Owls regrouped and took a 39-29 lead going into the locker room.  

Both teams struggled out of the gate of the second half as both squads only managed a two points apiece in the opening four minutes. Storjohann extended the Owls lead to 14 with a jumper at the 14:08 mark.

Park cut the Owls deficit to 11 points with less than 10 minute remaining, but Santos went on a personal 6-2 run to bring the Owls lead to 14 points with 9:03 remaining in the game.

The Pirates switched to a press and it was effective as they were able to cut William Woods lead to single-digits at 59-50. A Santos three-point play put the Owls lead back to 12 points.

The Owls would maintain its double-digit lead for the remainder of the game as they scored the 75-62 victory.

Storjohann was the only other Owl in double-figures as she scored 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting, that includes a 2-for-4 performance from behind the arc.

William Woods was outrebounding by Park, who held a 39-33 advantage. Julia Wells collected a game-high seven rebounds off the bench.

The Owls will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Stephens College. Tip-off for this Saturday AMC tilt is scheduled for 2 p.m.
